Adam Young pratar ut
From Fireflies to butterflies! After releasing his megasmash "Fireflies" in 2009, Owl City's Adam Young attracted a lot of attention. And then Taylor Swift got wind of him and you know how that went. Well, she wrote a song about him - "Enchanted" on her 2010 disc, Speak Now – and he responded with his own cover of it on Valentine's Day. So what really went down between the music superstars – and what was that Jake Gyllenhaal thing all about? I recently sat down with Young to discuss his third album, All Things Bright And Beautiful (released yesterday) and find out about his famed flirtation.
[...]
US: Is your cover of Taylor Swift's 'Enchanted' on the new album?
AY: It's not on the new record. That was such a fun thing to do. The plan was to surprise everybody and put that out for Valentine's Day. I had been planning it for a while. It's fun to see kids reactions. I never heard back from Taylor but I'm sure she's busy.
US: Do you think anything is going to ever happen between you two?
AY: I'm not sure. She's a great person, and I am so inspired by her music and the person herself, She is who her music makes her out to be. She's a superstar and I'm just this kid from a small town in the middle of nowhere, so I feel like that peasant in the midst of a princess and that whole classic story. But who knows? There's no telling.
US: Are you still single?
AY: Yes.
US: Were you surprised when the 'Enchanted' song came out and it was about you?
AY: Yeah I was! I bought her record at midnight when it came out and I was playing through it top to bottom. I love the classic adding up the letters in her lyrics. I got to that song and it added up to my name and I had to take a step back and decipher the code. We emailed back and forth for a while and she made some comment that I used the word 'Enchanted' and the word 'Wonderstruck' in an email and she said how she had never heard anyone really use that word before, so when that word was in the song, I was like this song has to be about me.
US: Did you also feel enchanted when you met her?
AY: Absolutely. I met her in New York and she came to one of my shows and after the show I was backstage in the green room and she was on her way up to meet me and that was the most nerve-racking few minutes of my life just waiting to meet Taylor Swift. When I met her she was glowing and I was too. It's hard to put into words, but I was definitely wonder-struck to meet her.
US: So if you guys were emailing, why do you think nothing ever happened?
AY: I don't know. I think I'm not the most romantic and eloquent guy in the world. She's just this endearing, wonderful girl and maybe I said something wrong, who knows. It went on for 3 or 4 months, something like that.
US: Were you shocked when she ended up with Jake Gyllenhaal?
AY: Not so much because we emailed back and forth just to say how you doing, nothing crazy serious. When I heard that it was cool. He's obviously a great guy, it's all good. Maybe I was a little heart broken but not too much.
US: Have you thought of emailing her again?
AY: I was hoping to work with her on this new record. I had this great song that I was dying to have her voice in so I tried to get it on there but she was in Europe or Australia somewhere, very busy which I totally get having been on this wild roller coaster myself for the past two years. I can't even imagine what she's up against so it didn't work out, but maybe the next record. It would be awesome to feature her on a song someday.
US: Do you have any other famous crushes in the meantime?
AY: Not really, she's only really been it. Something about her is just so innocent. In a way it is like a diamond in the rough. She's who she is and I love how she writes music to deal with life, to go about every bit of life's ins and outs, ups and downs, I love how she writes about those things that are so personal and you get to know her music and get to know her. I love how she blurs those two lines. She's very genuine. She's really only been it. I've really only had eyes for her in the industry.

Taylor skänker pengar till välgörenhet
50.000 $ = 318.500kr
Taylor Swift just helped wrap up the 2011 CMA Music Festival, but the country/pop star’s big weekend wasn’t just about her. On Saturday, she joined with the Academy of Country Music‘s charitable arm ACM Lifting Lives to present St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with a donation of $50,000.
The financial contribution comes as part of the ACM Lifting Lives Entertainer of the Year Matching Gift program. Lifting Lives teams up with the year’s reigning top entertainer — currently Swift — and doubles a gift that musician makes to the charity of their choice. Swift contributed $25,000, and Lifting Lives matched.

Taylor spelar på den slutsålda stadion Ford Field i Detroit ikväll, 11 juni.
"Stadium concerts these days are largely the province of blockbuster rockers and time-tested bands, the place for supersized festivals and daylong multi-band extravaganzas.
That's why Taylor Swift's Saturday show at Ford Field -- her second-ever stadium headlining date and first of several for her this summer -- is such a big deal. At 21, the country-pop starlet is venturing into territory typically reserved for artists many years her senior.
Ford Field is one of several football venues on Swift's summer tour, including Pittsburgh's Heinz Field, Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field and Massachusetts' Gillette Stadium, where she tested the stadium waters with a concert one year ago this week.
Swift just might be the youngest solo star ever to make the leap to stadium headliner status. Her Ford Field booking is an audacious display of star power -- and a firm reminder of just how much she has achieved at a young age."

Shania om hur det var att jobba med Taylor
Tonight you’re going to kick off the CMT Music Awards with Taylor Swift in a segment that pays tribute to “Thelma and Louise.” What was that like to work with Taylor?
She’s such a sweet person. Just very cool and I enjoyed the whole experience. No pressure. I barely do anything but drive and make a few faces. It was really nice being with her. It made me reflect a lot on how it felt for me when I was at her stage. I think there’s something like 25 years difference between us [Twain is 45 and Swift is 21] so you can imagine how that took me back being with her. It was almost surreal.
Did she ask you for any advice?
We were focusing on all the difficult lines we had and all the challenging acting! We didn’t get a chance to get to really talk. But we’d both really like to do that. We had some bathroom chat when nobody else was around. That was just girl talk. If she ever needs me, though, I’m there.

M Street in Nashville got a bit more cheerful on Sunday night when cast members of the hit Fox show Glee — Cory Monteith (Finn), Mark Salling (Puck) and Nashville native Chord Overstreet (Sam) — strolled into Virago for dinner and then Whiskey Kitchen for a few cocktails.
And yes, even though they all play high school students, in real life, they are of legal drinking age.
The three stars — who are currently crossing the country on the 2011 Glee Live Tour — took a quick detour to Music City, and our inside sources at CMT confirmed that while in town, Overstreet taped a special segment with Taylor Swift, Shania Twain and a few other surprise celebrities to be used in the opening montage at the 2011 CMT Music Awards.
Sadly the Glee guys are not expected to be in attendance at the awards, as they have a tour date booked in Philadelphia on the same night.
Catch all the celebrities and the shenanigans when the 2011 CMT Music Awards air live on the network starting at 7 p.m. Central on Wednesday, June 8.

USA Weekend artikel
In a rehearsal space near downtown Nashville, Taylor Swift is working on songs for her summer tour. Dressed casually in a summery blue and tan dress with her hair pulled back in a single braid that hangs below her shoulders, she plays a crystal-studded guitar while she sings a sad waltz, then switches it out for a banjo as her band kicks into her latest country hit, Mean.
Now 21 and living on her own since moving out of her parents' house 20 miles away last June, Swift calls her midtown Nashville penthouse “a wonderland” of barn-wood floors, reclaimed brick walls and mismatched kitchen décor.
“The best thing about being on your own is having that sanctuary,” she says, settling her slender frame into a leather couch. “That place that's yours.”
This week, Swift lands in Columbus, Ohio, on the first leg of an ambitious, six-month North American tour that takes her to 30 states and Canada. And Wednesday, the country star is up for three awards at the CMT Music Awards.
Before she hit the road again, we asked the country sensation if she would answer some of the thousands of questions submitted online from USA WEEKEND readers.
Here's what she told us:
Now that you have moved out, what do you miss most about living with your mom?
— Ashleigh Soden, Sydney
I don't miss that much about it, honestly! We see each other all the time still.
Do you ever regret not going to college?
— Elsilyn Zeider, Plymouth, Ind.
No. In order to keep perspective and to not be the girl who wants one thing her whole life then gets it and complains, I'm cool with the path I've chosen.
When you write songs about your relationships with people, do you consider what their reaction will be?
— Amber Nichter, Crestwood, Ky.
The only thing I'm thinking about is the person I'm writing about. It's a little message in a bottle. Sometimes, the purpose of writing it in the first place is what the person will do when they hear it. The fact that other people come into the equation, that happens 50 steps down the line.

The Story Of Us musikvideo: 24 maj!
Taylor Swift has always had fun in her music videos. Whether she's a geeky schoolgirl-turned-glamour queen in her VMA-winning video for "You Belong With Me" or a forlorn lover in a snow-covered farm house in her "Back to December" clip, Swift has always tried to show off different sides of herself.
Now she's teaming up with MTV News for "MTV First: Taylor Swift," where she'll not only have an exclusive sit-down with our very own Sway, but also premiere the video for her Speak Now single "The Story of Us."
It all kicks off on Tuesday, May 24, at 7:53 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. Fans can tune in to see Swift introduce the video's official premiere and speak with Sway live on-air. Sway and Taylor will then continue their chat for a 30-minute live stream on MTV.com. The singer will answer a few questions from fans too. Beginning on Friday (May 20), you can submit your pressing queries on MTV.com or via Twitter using @MTVNews (hashtag #AskTaylor).
At 8 p.m. ET, the music video will debut online on MTV.com, VH1.com and MTV's International Sites in 150+ territories, followed by a premiere on TeenNick at 10:56 p.m. ET. For those who can't wait for the video premiere, a 30-second sneak peek of "The Story of Us" will air during VH1's "Big Morning Buzz Live" on Tuesday, May 24 at 9:30 a.m. ET/PT. The full video will also appear on "VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown" on Saturday, May 28 at 9 a.m. ET/PT.
"The Story of Us" is the fourth single from Swift's chart-topping album. It follows "Mine," "Back to December" and her country-tinged track, "Mean." As for this song, well, she explains that it was inspired by one awkward awards show encounter.
"That actually happened during what ended up inspiring the last song I wrote for this record called 'Story of Us,' " she explained to MTV News last year about the song. "And I was at an awards show, and there was a guy there, obviously — it all starts there, doesn't it? It was a guy I had been in a relationship with, falling out, then we end up at the same awards show," she continued. "Both trying to act like we don't care ... both like, you know, chatting up the people next to us."
After the incident, she knew there was enough emotion there to write a song. "Afterward, I just felt so empty, like we were both fighting this silent war of pretending we didn't care that the other was there," she said. "And I went home, and I wrote this song about it. And at that point, I had this gut feeling, and I knew the album was finished."
Don't miss the premiere of Taylor Swift's "The Story of Us" video, on Tuesday, May 24, at 7:53 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by our live "MTV First" interview with Taylor Swift on MTV.com!

Her new album Speak Now was certified triple-platinum barely a month after its October release. Touring brings gross ticket sales of some $750,000 per night. Taylor Swift goes back to November all the time. No, we're not confused about her lyrical content. ("Back to December," of course, is Swift's 12th single to sell more than a million downloads in the U.S.) It's just that, when she's asked to pin down the most meaningful honor that's come her way over the past year, Swift returns to a moment in early November when her third album, "Speak Now," sold a million copies its first week.
"It's one of the proudest feelings I've ever had," she says on the phone from Los Angeles, where she has recently been house-hunting. Swift's pride in the sales stat is justified, considering that no one had pulled off this feat since Lil Wayne in 2008. "It's something I kind of place into the Things That Have Happened to Me category," says Swift. "You make a record, but the fans are the ones who decide how many it's going to sell. So it's not me selling a million albums in one week -- that's the fans going out and buying a million albums in one week."Swift is maintaining humility, a healthy instinct on her part, given the honors that seem to come her way almost every week. Just a few other recent items from the Things That Have Happened to Taylor department: At 21, she was the youngest person ever named Entertainer of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards. "Speak Now" passed the 3.5 million mark after six months, which gives it a shot at catching up with her 5 million-plus selling self-titled debut. Her sophomore effort, "Fearless," is the biggest-selling album released in the past five years, selling 6.3 million. In April, it was announced that Swift has sold more digital songs than anyone in history, her tally of 22.5 million slipping her just ahead of Lady Gaga. (Wait, did we say she "sold" 22.5 million singles? Correction: Fans bought 22.5 million Swift songs.)

Declan Whitebloom pratar om Mean video
Last week, Taylor Swift took on bullies in her video for "Mean." The country/pop star hooked up with director Declan Whitebloom to add a cinematic vibe to the dis track.
"I tried to go a bit sort of off-base and do something different, and she was into it as well and on the same page in terms of the visuals," he told MTV News. "We wanted to make something stunning while still getting the point across. They're stories that you've seen before in other videos, but we wanted to present it in a more visual and theatrical way."
Swift's video focuses on her own story of climbing her way up the pop heap, but also takes a look at other tales of woe and bullying.
"She decided she wanted to sidestep the limelight and tell the story through other people, which was quite unusual," Whitebloom said. "She's an incredibly creative and visual person."
"It's her idea to bring her band [into the video], and it really shows her authenticity as a performer and not just a one-note person," he added. "She really does do everything, and I think in this video, she really showed that."

13 låtar på Top 10 Hot Country Songs
As the song lifts 12-9, Swift has reached the chart's top 10 with all 13 of her singles (excluding holiday fare) promoted to country radio. She joins Carrie Underwood as the only women to begin their chart histories with as many consecutive top 10s dating to the survey's 1944 launch. (Underwood scored her 13th top 10 with "Mama's Song," which peaked at No. 2 in January).

"Speak Now... Help Now!"
Taylor Swift announced today that she will open the last dress rehearsal for her Speak Now Tour to fans as a fundraiser to benefit victims of last week's deadly tornadoes in the Southeast.
About 13,000 fans will get a first look at Swift's new show almost a week early for her final tour rehearsal, on May 21at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.
The North American portion of her Speak Now World Tour 2011 kicks off on May 27th in Omaha, Neb.
"I was watching the coverage of the tornadoes backstage at rehearsals, and I wanted to do something for the families affected by the damage," Swift said. "I've never opened a rehearsal to the public before, but I felt that inviting my fans to the last rehearsal for the Speak Now Tour would be a great way to raise money. So, tickets will be available for people to come see us in the Bridgestone Arena, where we've been rehearsing for the last five weeks."
"We'll probably still be doing some fine-tuning to the show that night, since this will be a true rehearsal," she says, "but I feel like it is so important for me and my fans to help if we can."
Ticketing information and "Speak Now....Help Now!" event details will be available and updated beginning Monday, May 9.

Taylor Swift: The Garden In The Machine
“Country music is truly music for everyone,” said Tim McGraw, as he and his wife Faith Hill prepared to announce the Country Music Association’s 2009 “Entertainer of the Year” award. “And that’s never been more apparent than with the diversity of tonight’s nominees.”
It was a line meant to acknowledge the presence of one nominee in particular, one fresh face among a field of perennial contenders: There was Kenny Chesney, who had won the genre’s most prestigious award the previous three years, and two-time winner George Strait. There was Keith Urban, a one-time winner and Brad Paisley, a three-time “Male Vocalist of the Year.”
And then there was a girl. A girl who, at age 19, just happened to be the youngest artist ever nominated for the award – and the first female solo artist to be nominated since Faith Hill was so honored nine long years before.
Taylor Swift’s hands flew up to cover her face as Hill announced her name. The crowd at Nashville’s Sommet Center erupted in applause. Swift stood up, looking genuinely stunned, and fellow nominee (and reigning champion) Chesney approached from a couple of seats away with a congratulatory hug and a kiss on the cheek. And then, the lanky teenager with the long blonde curls walked up the pathway to the podium, where she accepted country music’s most prestigious award from the man who her career-launching debut single was named after.
It was a perfect, full-circle moment – like the kind that happens in hope-inspiring movies about people’s dreams coming true. But while Swift’s rise to the pinnacle of country music stardom may seem like something from a Hollywood script – with that rise culminating in her unprecedented “Entertainer of the Year” victory just three years after the release of her debut album – the story of her journey to that moment contains less glitter and glamour than you might expect.
“It didn’t happen like it does in the movies,” Swift says. “I look back and it seems like hundreds of thousands of tiny baby steps that lead to that moment.”
